The 6th century temple located on a small hillock of the suburb region Thiruverumbur in the south City #Tiruchirapalli houses Lord Shiva called as #Erumbeeswarar_temple. The recent researches by the faculty of Archeology of different institutions have thrown light on the interesting facts of the ancient #Chola_Kingdom and its citizens. The fragments have been found to be scattered across the precincts. A closer inspection of these inscription tell us astonishing facts of the Chola Kings who were patronizing the temple and the surrounding villages.


Two Saivaite mutts had been reportedly functioning in this area named after the sacred Saint Thirunavukkarasar and the #inscriptions have the details on the area and the location of these mutts. The names of the temple accountant and others who have contributed to the emerging of such a massive structure are found in these inscription though most of them are supposed to have been mixed with other stones during the renovation period.


After this deity and the temple, the region has gained its name as #Thiruverumbur and you can find such inscriptions and bundles of interesting facts in almost all the temples.
